My Seven Dials

Kristina of MyShoppingSpy.com shares her 'My Seven Dials'

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN SEVEN DIALS TO SHOP?

This is a tough one. There are quite a few places in Seven Dials that I visit regularly, however, the two shops that really stand out for me are Spex And The City and Tatty Devine. Both embody what I'm looking for when I'm on the hunt for places for my shopping guide; they are unique, offering high quality products with unusual design, great value for money and great customer service.

Spex And The City is a beautiful small boutique and definitely the place to go if you're looking for cool, sophisticated and standout glasses. They have a superb collection of frames and the likelihood that you will meet someone wearing the same ones is almost zero.

Tatty Devine is a quirky little boutique selling plastic jewellery. So far so good - but beyond that the designers Rosie and Harriet manage to create the most amazing shapes, figures and colours too. Whether it's sunglasses complete with XXL lashes, a Mexican skull in eye popping colours or a statement necklace that's a huge orange tiger, you have to have it. This shop is a real treat and has instant feel-good vibes.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE EATERY OR WATERING HOLE IN SEVEN DIALS?

It has to be the Ivy. I know no better place to go for a bite to eat pre-theatre than this London institution. There are some great theatres in and around Seven Dials and if you want to get glammed up and meet somewhere in style, then the Ivy Bar and its beautiful wood panel dining room is the perfect location. The menu claims to be modern European with a great variety of hearty dishes including British classics like Shephard’s Pie and a mouthwatering plate of British cheeses. The only danger here is to over-eat and feel snoozy once you arrive at the theatre...

WHAT MAKES SEVEN DIALS SPECIAL FOR YOU?

I’m always on the look out for new shops to review on my website MyShoppingSpy.com and Seven Dials is a must-visit for shopping inspiration. Seven Dials reminds me of how Covent Garden used to be many years ago - it’s a place for people in-the-know who prefer independent shops and cute little cafes. It’s perfect to escape the tourists and experience an area with a real London feel. No matter if it’s just for a few hours or the whole day Seven Dials will keep you entertained with shopping, great coffee stops, beauty treats or a visit to one of the Westend theatre productions.
